What is Anime Overload?

Anime Overload is a tower defense game on Roblox where you deploy anime-inspired heroes to defend against waves of enemies. Developed by Hi-Fun Interactive, the game has earned a 94% approval rating and features over 80 playable heroes across multiple rarity tiers.

The core gameplay loop is straightforward: summon heroes from a gacha system, build a team, deploy them on a map, and upgrade them during battle to survive increasingly difficult enemy waves. What sets Anime Overload apart is its deep hero customization through the Trait system, a robust evolution and prestige progression, and diverse game modes ranging from co-op Raids to endless Infinite Mode.

Day 1 Action Plan

Your first session determines how fast you progress. Follow these 5 steps in order to start with maximum advantage:

1

Redeem All Active Codes

Before doing anything else, go to the News menu and enter every active code. Codes give free Crystal Shards, Trait Reroll Tickets, and other resources. They expire without warning, so redeem them immediately.

See all active codes →
2

Summon with Your Crystals

Use the Crystal Shards from codes to summon heroes. Each pull costs 50 crystals. Your goal is to get at least one Mythic-rarity hero — they have a 0.5% base rate with a 150-pull pity guarantee (7,500 crystals). Any Mythic hero will carry you through early content.

Plan your pulls →
3

Push Story Mode — Ninja Leaf

Start Story Mode and clear the Ninja Leaf area. These early stages are designed for new players and reward essential materials: EXP items for leveling, Gold for upgrades, and Crystal Shards for more summons. Clear as many stages as your team can handle.

4

Set Up AFK Chamber

The AFK Chamber generates resources while you're offline. Set it up before you log off and collect rewards when you return. Over 10 hours, you'll earn approximately 5,000 Crystal Shards — that's 100 free summons worth of currency every day, just for being idle.

5

Check the Tier List & Plan Your Build

Review the tier list to see which of your summoned heroes are worth investing in. Focus your resources on one main DPS carry. Don't spread upgrades across too many heroes early on — concentration beats diversification in the first week.

Summoning System

Summoning is how you obtain new heroes. Each summon costs 50 Crystal Shards. The gacha system uses fixed probabilities with a pity mechanic to guarantee rare pulls after a set number of attempts.

Rarity Drop Rate Pity Pity Cost
Secret 0.008% 8,000 pulls 400,000 crystals
Mythic 0.5% 150 pulls 7,500 crystals
Legendary 3%
Epic 20%
Rare 76.492%

💡 Pro Tip

The Mythic pity at 150 pulls (7,500 crystals) is the most realistic target for new players. Save at least this much before pulling. Use our Summon Calculator to plan.

Hero Rarities & Roles

Rarity Tiers

Heroes come in 5 rarity tiers. Higher rarity means stronger base stats and more powerful abilities:

Secret

Rarest and most powerful heroes. 0.008% pull rate. Game-changing abilities. Examples: Strongest Alien, Bald Hero.

Mythic

Top-tier heroes accessible at 0.5%. Core of most teams. Examples: Strongest Alien, Bald Hero, Devil Knight, Ener.

Legendary

Solid heroes at 3% rate. Good for early-mid game. Useful in specific compositions and as support units.

Epic

Common heroes at 20%. Functional for early progression but outclassed quickly. Good for Prestige fodder.

Rare

Most common at 76.492%. Starter heroes. Replace them as soon as you get higher-rarity alternatives.

Hero Roles

Every hero fills one of four roles. A balanced team needs multiple roles covered:

Role Purpose Key Heroes
DPS Primary damage dealer. Kills enemies before they reach the end. Strongest Alien, Sokono, Bald Hero
Support Buffs allies, heals, extends range. Force multiplier for the team. Susono
Control Slows, stuns, and debuffs enemies. Buys time for DPS to kill. Sosoke, Goju
Farm Generates extra Gold during battle. Essential for economy. Eskanor

Trait System

Every hero has a Trait — a passive bonus that modifies their stats. There are 14 traits across 4 rarity tiers. Traits are randomly assigned when you summon a hero and can be changed using Trait Reroll Tickets.

Secret (1 trait)

Overloaded — the best trait in the game. ~0.002% drop rate, 500-roll pity.

Mythic (5 traits)

Grace, Nullshot, Radiant, Rift-Edge, Voidborn. Strong, realistic targets. 400-roll pity.

Legendary (4 traits)

Blind Rage, Sharpshoot, Thrift, Wisdom. Decent placeholders.

Rare (3 traits)

Brutality, Extension, Surge. Minimal bonuses — reroll these immediately.

⭐ Key Takeaway

Traits dramatically affect hero performance. A Mythic hero with Nullshot trait will outperform the same hero with a Rare trait by 30-50% or more. Prioritize rerolling your carry hero's trait.

Elements & Counters

Anime Overload uses a 9-element system with three counter triangles, one mutual pair, and one neutral element. Deploying heroes with elemental advantage against the stage's enemies significantly boosts your damage output.

Triangle 1

Fire > Nature > Water > Fire

Triangle 2

Wind > Storm > Physical > Wind

Mutual & Neutral

LightDark  •  True = no weakness

Element Strong Against Weak Against
Fire Nature Water
Nature Water Fire
Water Fire Nature
Light Dark Dark
Dark Light Light
Wind Storm Physical
Storm Physical Wind
Physical Wind Storm
True None None

Currency Guide

Anime Overload has five main currencies. Understanding what each does and how to earn it efficiently is key to fast progression.

Currency Primary Use How to Get It
Gold Level up heroes during battle Earned by defeating enemies in-game
Crystal Shards Summon heroes (50 per pull) AFK Chamber, codes, events
Raid Shards Enter Raid mode Daily rewards, Story Mode completion
Trait Reroll Tickets Re-randomize a hero's trait Codes, events, Monarch Dungeon
Tokens Shop purchases, cosmetics Events, milestones, Robux

💡 Pro Tip

Priority: Crystal Shards > Trait Reroll Tickets > Gold > Raid Shards > Tokens. Crystals fund summoning, which is the foundation of all progression.

Game Modes

Anime Overload offers four main game modes, each with unique mechanics and rewards:

Story Mode

Progress through 3 areas: Ninja Leaf, Marine Fortress, and Ice Marine. Each area has multiple stages with increasing difficulty. Clearing stages rewards EXP materials, Gold, and Crystal Shards.

Raids

Co-op boss fights with unique mechanics. You must Crouch to dodge specific boss attacks — failing to crouch results in instant death. Drops rare evolution materials and Raid-exclusive rewards.

Monarch Dungeon

A 4-phase trial with escalating difficulty. Each phase tests different aspects of your team: wave clear, boss DPS, survival, and speed. Rewards include Trait Reroll Tickets and premium currency.

Infinite Mode

Survive unlimited waves with increasing enemy HP and speed. Rewards scale with the wave you reach. The ultimate endgame test for optimized teams.

⚠️ Raid Warning

The Crouch mechanic catches many new players off guard. Watch for the red warning indicator on screen — when it appears, press Crouch immediately. Practice in lower-difficulty Raids first.

Story Mode Areas

Ninja Leaf

Beginner area. Low difficulty. Rewards: basic EXP materials, Gold, Crystal Shards. Start here.

Marine Fortress

Intermediate area. Requires Legendary+ heroes. Better material drops and more Crystal Shards.

Ice Marine

Advanced area. Needs Mythic heroes with good traits. Top-tier rewards including evolution materials.

Leveling & Evolution

In-Battle Leveling

During a battle, you spend Gold (earned from killing enemies) to level up deployed heroes. Each level increases base stats. Heroes with the Farm role (like Eskanor) generate bonus Gold, making them essential for funding your team's upgrades during a run.

Strategy: Level your carry DPS first, then your support. Don't spread Gold evenly — one maxed hero is better than five half-leveled heroes.

Outside-Battle Leveling

Outside of battles, you use EXP items to permanently level up heroes. EXP items drop from Story Mode stages, events, and the AFK Chamber. This permanent level applies as a baseline in every battle, so a level 50 hero enters combat already stronger than a level 1 hero.

Evolution System

Once a hero reaches a specific level threshold, you can evolve them using special materials. Evolution unlocks new abilities, dramatically increases stats, and sometimes changes a hero's visual appearance. Evolution materials are obtained from Story Mode (advanced stages), Raids, and Monarch Dungeon.

For a complete guide on evolution materials and optimal evolution paths, see our Evolution Guide →

Prestige System

The Prestige system lets you merge duplicate heroes to gain permanent stat bonuses. When you pull a hero you already own, you can fuse the duplicate into your existing copy to increase its Prestige level.

How Prestige Works:

  1. Pull a duplicate of a hero you already own
  2. Navigate to the Prestige menu and select the hero
  3. Fuse the duplicate to increase the hero's Prestige level
  4. Each Prestige level grants permanent stat bonuses (DMG, HP, Range, etc.)
  5. Higher-rarity duplicates give larger bonuses per fusion

💡 Pro Tip

Don't panic about duplicates. Many new players are frustrated when they pull a hero they already have. Duplicates are actually valuable — Prestige bonuses are permanent and compound over time.

For detailed Prestige strategies and breakpoints, see our Prestige Guide →

AFK Chamber

The AFK Chamber is a passive resource generator that works while you're offline. It's one of the most important systems for consistent progression.

~5,000

Crystal Shards per 10 hours

100

Free summons equivalent daily

10h

Maximum idle time

Setup: Access the AFK Chamber from the main menu. Assign heroes to the chamber — higher-level heroes and heroes with Farm traits generate more resources. Always collect rewards before the 10-hour cap to avoid wasting time. Set it up before bed and collect in the morning for maximum efficiency.

F2P Tips

Anime Overload is generous to free-to-play players. Here are five strategies to maximize your progression without spending Robux:

1

Redeem every code immediately — they expire without warning. Check our codes page daily. View active codes →

2

Run AFK Chamber overnight. 10 hours of idle time yields roughly 5,000 crystals (100 summons worth).

3

Save crystals for rate-up banners. Featured hero banners have significantly better odds than standard banners.

4

Focus on one carry hero. Spreading resources across many heroes slows your progression. Pick one SSS/S-tier DPS and max it first.

5

Join the Discord for update leaks and community tier lists. Knowing what's coming helps you plan crystal spending.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Every new player makes these errors. Knowing them in advance will save you days of wasted resources:

Spending all crystals on day one

New players often blow their starter crystals immediately. Instead, check the current banner — if no rate-up event is active, save your crystals for the next featured Mythic/Secret banner.

Ignoring Eskanor (Farm unit)

Eskanor is the only Farm unit in the game. Every team needs him for economy. Skipping Eskanor means slower progression than players who invest in him early.

Keeping Rare traits on main heroes

Rare traits (Brutality, Extension, Surge) give only +10-12.5% stats. Even one Legendary trait is a massive upgrade. Use your Trait Reroll Tickets as soon as you get them on your carry hero.

Not setting up AFK Chamber

The AFK Chamber generates approximately 5,000 Crystal Shards over 10 hours of idle time. Not using it is like leaving free summons on the table every single day.

Building all DPS, no support or control

A team of 5 DPS heroes will fail in Raids and Infinite Mode. You need at least one Support (Susono) and one Control (Sosoke/Goju) to survive late-game content.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Anime Overload free to play?

Yes. Anime Overload is completely free to play on Roblox. There are optional Robux purchases for cosmetics and minor boosts, but the game is not pay-to-win. F2P players can access all content and compete in every mode.

What is the best starter hero?

You don't choose a starter hero — you summon from the gacha pool. Your first priority should be getting any Mythic-rarity hero. Strongest Alien, Bald Hero, Devil Knight, and Ener are all Mythic-rarity heroes that can carry you through early Story Mode. Some of these can later be evolved to Secret rarity.

How do I get Crystal Shards fast?

The fastest free methods are: AFK Chamber (~5,000 crystals per 10 hours), redeeming codes (check our codes page), and completing Story Mode stages. Consistency matters more than any single method.

What does the pity system do?

The pity system guarantees a hero of a specific rarity after a set number of pulls without getting one. Secret heroes have an 8,000-pull pity (400,000 crystals). Mythic heroes have a 150-pull pity (7,500 crystals). Pity resets when you pull a hero of that rarity.

How many heroes can I deploy at once?

The deployment limit depends on the game mode and your current level. The exact limits may vary as the game is updated. Check in-game for your current deployment capacity.

What is the Crouch mechanic in Raids?

During Raid boss fights, certain attacks require you to press the Crouch button to dodge. A visual indicator appears on screen before the attack. If you fail to crouch in time, your hero takes massive damage or is instantly killed. Timing is critical.

Should I evolve or prestige first?

Evolve first. Evolution unlocks new abilities and significantly increases your hero's power. Prestige (merging duplicate heroes) provides permanent stat bonuses but requires duplicate copies, which are harder to obtain early on.

How do elements work?

There are 9 elements with a rock-paper-scissors counter system. Fire beats Nature, Nature beats Water, Water beats Fire. Light and Dark counter each other. Wind beats Storm, Storm beats Physical, Physical beats Wind. True element has no weaknesses or strengths.

What is the best game mode for farming?

Story Mode (Ninja Leaf stages) is the best for early farming due to easy clears and consistent rewards. Once your team is stronger, Infinite Mode provides scaling rewards based on how far you push. AFK Chamber is the best passive farming method.
